Biography - Krisztina Fejes, pianist

Hungarian pianist Krisztina Fejes is renowned for her deeply expressive playing, refined technique, and exceptional sensitivity to musical structure. Her performances have been praised for their individuality and emotional clarity: “We heard a truly extraordinary performance from her — a master of her instrument.” (Spain, 2021) “Her radiant musicality evokes the memory of Annie Fischer.” (Hungary, 2023) She began playing piano at the age of five in Szolnok, Hungary. A child prodigy, she won her first national competition at the age of ten and was soon admitted to the prestigious Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest. She continued her studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, under Balázs Szokolay and Attila Némethy, where she developed a profound connection to the Lisztian tradition. She later refined her artistry in masterclasses with Dimitri Bashkirov, Paul Badura-Skoda, and Mikhail Voskresensky. Krisztina has received numerous national and international prizes, including at the Carl Filtsch International Piano Competition (Romania) and at the Béla Bartók International Piano Competition (Hungary), where she also earned a special award for the best Bartók performance. Her international career spans across Europe, Asia, Latin America and U.S. She has performed solo tours and taught masterclasses in Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, France, Colombia, Mexico, Finland, and China. In 2018, she represented Europe as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra at Teatro Colón de Bogotá during the European Days Festival. She has taught at leading institutions such as Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and the University of Toluca in Mexico. Krisztina Fejes maintains a rich repertoire from Baroque to Contemporary music. A leading figure in Hungary's contemporary scene, she has premiered numerous works and recorded live sessions for Hungarian Radio. She is a two-time recipient of the Artisjus Prize (2012, 2020) and was awarded the Annie Fischer Scholarship in 2010, and the Hungarian Academy of Artsscholarship in 2017/2018. In 2021, her live concert recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in G major was released by Halidon Music, recorded at the Auditorio de Zaragoza. In 2025, Hungaroton released Miklós Rózsa – Complete Piano Works, an album dedicated to restoring the composer’s piano legacy to its rightful place. The project was part of her artistic mission to bring renewed attention to Rózsa’s neglected classical concert works. Today, she works as a freelance concert artist, regularly invited for performances and masterclasses worldwide. In 2020, she founded the Fejes Academy Association, where she mentors young Hungarian talents and cultivates the next generation of musicians.
